Adelaide Cabaret Festival has brought together a very fine cast of entertainers. And Bourgeois & Maurice are 2 of them. Their show, How to save the world without really trying, is pure gold.
Ultra Neo Cabaret, this duo will have you grasped in their provocative web of comedy, song and fashion.
Totally inappropriate, and pushing sexual, political, social boundaries, the audiences revel in the diverse nature and messages of the performance. Their physical presence alone is powerful and very fabulous, think a modern day Columbia & Riff-Raff from Rocky Horror. The brother & sister characters from another world have a mission to come to Earth to ‘save it without really trying’. Along the way we are treated to histerical songs and stories from the glam punk Bourgeois and the tall and beehived Maurice.
Lyrically the songs are charged with lots of naughtiness and a couple of the stands outs are ‘Fear’ and the big finale number ‘Knickers in a Twist’.
Recommended? Definitely. Sadly there are no more shows for this years Cabaret Festival, but we’ve got a feeling we’re going to be seeing a lot more of them here in Adelaide.
